Bilingual Judges: What's the Verdict?

Requiring all Supreme Court Justices to be bilingual may come at the expense of competence.

The House of Commons recently passed a bill requiring all Supreme Court Justices to be fluent in both English and French. The bill is designed to ensure that linguistically sensitive legal arguments don't get lost in translation. But if the bill makes it through the Senate, will it exclude some of Canada's best legal minds? Former Supreme Court Justice John C. Major discussed the push for a bilingual Supreme Court with The Mark's politics editor, Emily Burke.
