Canada's battle rap scene is poised to become one of the world's most competitive.

By looking at him, you'd never guess that Alex Larsen is one of Canada's fiercest battle rappers. It's hard to be taken seriously as a rapper when you're a lanky, 23-year-old creative writing grad from Toronto – unless of course, you have the lyrics to back it up. But as Kid Twist, Alex has been tearing up the scene with vicious insults and witty punchlines against some of the best battle MCs in the world.

Alex popped by The Mark offices to talk with audio producer Chris Mitchell about his experiences in the rap scene.
