Privacy in the Facebook Era

Letting Facebook know our preferences and habits could be risky if the information falls into the wrong hands.

With its new universal "like" button, Facebook is encouraging people to brand their interests on their digital sleeves. But as the social networking site collects a more vivid picture of its users' habits, some people are warning that we should be wary about what the company is doing with this information.

Ian Kerr, Canada Research Chair in ethics, law, and technology, spoke with audio producer Chris Mitchell about how Facebook is redefining social norms of privacy and what impact this could have.
