The Conservative Government is coming under fire for billion-dollar security costs.
The Harper government has come under scrutiny after the security estimates for the upcoming G8 and G20 Summits have ballooned in price to nearly $1-billion, after early estimates of less than $200-million. This backlash has forced parliamentary budget watchdog Kevin Page to probe the security bill, the result of which is dependent on the Conservative government giving his office the necessary documents.
Jack Layton, leader of the New Democratic Party, joined The Mark to speak about why the cost of G8/G20 security is financially irresponsible, and how that money could better benefit Toronto.
