With alternative choices available, and decreasing support for the Conservatives, Canadians want a new government.

The Canadian political arena is locked in a state of stasis -- wherein no party is close to having majority support from Canadians -- and yet election murmurs have been heating up across the country. When Jay Hill, MP for Prince George-Peace River, announced that he would not run in the next election, some thought it was a sign that a fall election was imminent. Meanwhile, Michael Ignatieff is spending his summer on the road with his Liberal Express bus tour, which many Liberal insiders say is a campaign-style tour to get Ignatieff ready for an election.

The New Democratic Party thinks a looming election is possible, and that Canadians could be eager to hit the booths. Jack Layton, Leader of the NDP, joined The Mark to speak about why he thinks more Canadians are ready for an election, and why he thinks the Conservatives are falling out of favour -- even with some of their key supporters.
