The biggest names in the sport have convened in Toronto to discuss issues like women’s hockey and the NHL’s participation in the Olympics
The Hockey Hall of Fame will be crowded for the next four days with the best players and brightest minds in the game. Speakers like NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, ex-Detroit Red Wings Star Steve Yzerman, and gold medalist Haley Wickenheiser have gathered to discuss where Canada’s sport will go from here. On the agenda are issues like whether or not professional players should continue to participate in the Olympics, minor league player development, and how to make international women’s hockey more competitive. Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge has hinted the women’s game might be dropped from the Olympics unless a country other than Canada or the U.S. fields a decent team soon.
