Two men in custody are believed to have ties to al-Quaida
Two people are in custody today and more arrests are expected as a result of an RCMP investigation into a terrorist plot. Misbahuddin Ahmed, an X-ray technician at Ottawa Hospital, has been identified as one of the suspects, and police believe he was part of a terror cell with links to al-Quaida. The RCMP and CSIS had been tracking Ahmed for over a year and sources say his group was in the early planning stages of attacks inspired by bombing campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan. Ahmed’s home as well as an apartment in the Bayshore area of Ottawa were raided, and another man was also arrested. Police are expected to announce details of the investigation later today.
