Dutch arrest two suspected dry-run terrorists

Two men of Yemeni descent are in custody after boarding flights with knives, box-cutters, and a cellphone taped to a bottle of Pepto-Bismol.

Two men flying from Chicago to Amsterdam’s Schipol airport were arrested on their arrival by Dutch police after American officials found suspicious items in their checked baggage. At least one of the men was carrying cellphones and watches taped together and a number of other unusual items, and officials fear that they were mock bombs designed to test what items could get through airport security. The two men have yet to be charged but their relatives are saying that the incident was a misunderstanding. They say the men were bringing gifts to friends and relatives back home, and simply taped together items that were intended for the same recipient.
