The diva took home eight awards including best video, best pop video, and best collaboration.

Lady Gaga ruled the roost last night at the MTV Awards in Los Angeles, capturing a slew of awards for her freakishly wonderful video for Bad Romance. Changing into several increasingly flamboyant outfits throughout the night, the 24-year-old diva ended up with eight awards and is inching ever closer to solidifying her status as the most powerful artist in popular music. From the podium she announced the title of her upcoming album, “Born This Way” and sang a few bars from the unreleased title track. Canada’s own Justin Bieber surprised no one, least of all the legions of screaming tweens who follow him around, by taking home the best new artist award.
