Since 2008 Canadian military police have been investigating the possibility that Canada or one of its allies has illegally killed Afghan nationals.
The CBC is reporting that a major investigation currently underway in Afghanistan is most likely probing the conduct of one of Canada’s allies in the Afghan war. In 2008 a member of Canada's elite Joint Task Force 2 made allegations against another member of the force and the force itself, sparking an investigation which ended more than a year later with no charges being laid. But the first investigation led to a much wider one, which appears to be aimed at another nation whose forces may have been involved in the alleged improper killing. Since the start of the conflict, Canadian forces have worked jointly with several nations, including the U.K. and Afghan security forces.
