Last month officers and civilian staff at the Kamploops RCMP detachment allegedly watched two female prisoners have sex over closed circuit television.
A fourth RCMP officer has been suspended over his alleged involvement in an incident last month in which police did nothing to stop two female prisoners from having sex while in custody. The staff allegedly watched the encounter in the detachment’s drunk tank over closed circuit television for several minutes without doing anything to intervene. Three officers and three civilian staff were suspended last month. The decision to suspend the fourth officer was apparently made more than two weeks ago, but he was out of the province on vacation. The RCMP is also investigating one of the inmates, prompting speculation that she is HIV-positive. The police are obligated to investigate any HIV-positive person who does not inform her sexual partner of her condition.
