J.Lo inks American Idol deal

The singer-actress will receive USD$12 million to appear on the tenth season of the show.

A deal between Jennifer Lopez and the producers of American Idol nearly fell through over her demands for spinoff movie and TV deals and her desire to have input on who her co-stars will be, but ultimately Lopez appears to have decided a cool $12-million is enough. Lopez is the latest personality to serve on the show’s judging panel after high-profile judges Simon Cowell and Ellen Degeneres left in recent years. It’s as yet unclear who else will be on the panel but Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler appears to be a lock, and Elton John, Chris Isaak and Harry Connick, Jr. are rumoured to be possibilities.
