A recent Toronto mayoral debate gave candidates a chance to explain themselves without shouting over each other.
This year's Toronto mayoral debate at Innis Town Hall on September 14 employed a different kind of format. The candidates engaged in a less adversarial discussion, hosted by John Tory, that included opening speeches from each candidate and questions from the audience. While front-running candidate Rob Ford could not attend, the debate did include other contenders such as Rocco Rossi, George Smitherman, Sarah Thomson, Joe Pantalone, and Rocco Achampong. The Mark caught up with John Tory to discuss the benefits and potential uses of this new debate format.
