Tea Party candidate “dabbled into witchcraft”

The bizarre story of Tea Party Republican Christine O’Donnell took another twist this weekend when talk show host Bill Maher aired footage of her saying that she “dabbled into witchcraft” when she was younger. O’Donnell, a conservative Christian and former abstinence counselor, won the Republican primary in Delaware last week, angering many establishment Republicans who believe she has no chance of defeating a Democrat in a general election because her inexperience and checkered past. O’Donnell ran under the far-right Tea Party banner and was backed by Sarah Palin. O’Donnell made the witchcraft comments on Maher’s former show Politically Incorrect, on which she was a frequent guest. On Sunday, she cancelled several scheduled public appearances.
