Fox News “destructive,” says Obama

The American president tells Rolling Stone that the right-wing network is more concerned about profits than objective journalism.

There have never been many warm feelings between Barack Obama and the folks at Fox News, and wisely or not he has re-opened his feud with the network in a recent interview. In an issue of Rolling Stone published yesterday, he compared Fox News chairman Rupert Murdoch to William Randolph Hearst, the notorious newspaper owner whose incendiary stories are often credited with pushing the U.S. into the 1898 Spanish-American War. He slammed the network for helping put an end to the age of objective journalism and promoting an agenda that hinders the well-being of America. Fox News likely won’t mind however. Expect them to spend significant air time over the next few days decrying Obama as opposing the freedom of the press.
