A recorded speech attributed to the Al Qaeda leader urges Muslims to tackle humanitarian aid.
With the Muslim nation of Pakistan still suffering from massive floods, Osama bin Laden appears to have momentarily abandoned his main themes of terror and violence and asked Muslims to come together to take on famine, flood relief, and clean water. He also called for aid to Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, and Chad. The speech was part of a 12-minute video that appeared on jihadist forums today. Its authenticity has not yet been verified. The last tape attributed to bin Laden appeared in March of this year. Nine years after the attacks, U.S. forces are no closer to capturing bin Laden, who is believed to be somewhere in the mountainous border region between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
