A Seattle man is attempting to raise $10 million to stop the band from releasing any more records.
Most Weezer fans have a love-hate relationship with the band. Or make that, love, then hate. After releasing two classic records in the mid-1990s, they’ve stunningly been unable to create any music even approaching the caliber of their first albums, Weezer and Pinkerton, despite perennial announcements that their next release will be a return to form. Even the band seems to have tacitly admitted its best days are behind them, having just embarked on a “Memories” tour on which they plan to almost exclusively play tunes from their first two albums. Now James Burns hopes $10 million will induce the band to end their “abusive relationship” with fans. He currently has about $9,999,800 to go.
