Rich Iott says that dressing up like a Nazi during historical reenactments is no big deal.
If you’re running for government office, pictures of yourself dressed as a fascist are not going to win you any votes (except maybe if you’re running for office in Italy). But Ohio Tea Party candidate Rich Iott is defending his military reenactment hobby after fellow Republicans disowned him over images of him in a Nazi uniform. Iott was a member of a reenactment group that sought to “salute” the “idealists” of Europe before he became a politician. It’s only the latest bizarre scandal to hit the fringe right-wing organization. Delaware Tea Party candidate Christine O’Donnell refused to do interviews with national media after footage surfaced of her declaring she had “dabbled in witchcraft” when she was younger.
