The sex offender was convicted in 1997 for molesting young hockey players under his care.
James was a prominent member of Canada’s junior hockey community when he was convicted for sex crimes. At the time of his arrest he was the general manager, coach, and part-owner of the Calgary Hitmen. In 1997 he was sentenced to three-and-half years in jail for repeatedly assaulting former NHLer Sheldon Kennedy and another player he coached when they were youngsters, and he is now believed to be living in Mexico. In a biography published last year, former NHL all-star Theoren Fleury alleged that James also abused him, and it’s believed those allegations and accusations made by several other victims will prompt Winnipeg police to issue a warrant for his arrest later today.
