The opposition has produced fresh evidence that the Conservatives awarded lucrative contracts in exchange for donations.
Pressure is mounting on the government as the Bloc and NDP say they’ve found more officials connected to a $9-million renovation of Parliament’s West Block who subsequently made donations to the Conservative Party. Scandal began brewing earlier this month following revelations that shortly after being awarded the contract in 2008, construction firm LM Sauvé organized a fundraiser for a Conservative candidate in Montreal. The RCMP is currently investigating separate allegations that a Conservative insider acted as a lobbyist for LM Sauvé. Yesterday the opposition said they had new evidence that a bonding company and a government mediator involved in the project also participated in the Montreal fundraiser.
