The convicted killer spoke for five minutes yesterday at his sentencing hearing and apologized for his crimes.
The evidence against Russell Williams was so damning that prosecutors declined to try to have him declared a dangerous offender, saying no parole board would ever let him see the light of day. Williams was sentenced to two life sentences for murder, 10 years each for two sexual assaults, and one year each for 82 break-ins. Addressing a courtroom in Belleville, ON yesterday, he said that he was “indescribably ashamed” of his crimes and apologized to the families of his victims. The prosecution requested that physical evidence of his crimes be destroyed, including the digital camera he used to photograph his victims, lingerie, and rope. Williams will serve his sentence in the maximum security G-block of Kingston penitentiary.
