Stewart spars with Obama on the Daily Show

The president said he loves the late night talk show but has a “profound disagreement” with its host.

Hosting his show from Washington this week ahead of his Rally to Restore Sanity on Oct. 30, Stewart interviewed Barack Obama last night and challenged the president on his record since taking office two years ago, calling his legislative process “timid.” The president shot back, saying the health care reform he pushed through Congress gives coverage to 30 million Americans and “is as significant a piece of legislation as we have seen in this country's history.” The interview was not without its lighter moments, but highlighted left-wing Americans’ frustration over the difficulty Obama has had in bringing sweeping change to Washington. “Yes we can,” he told Stewart, echoing his famous campaign slogan, “but it’s not going to happen overnight.”
