Daniel Dion faced 45 criminal charges between 1982 and 1996 and was convicted for weapons possession and production of marijuana.
Dion’s family found his body in a burned out car near the resort city of Acapulco on Sunday. They became worried when he stopped making his daily phone call home and traveled to Mexico to find him because they were frustrated by the lack of action from local authorities. A resident of Carleton Place, ON, Dion ran a business that employed Mexican prisoners to make purses, but its now clear this was not his only connection to the criminal world. In 1993 he was convicted of carrying a concealed weapon, marijuana possession, and production of marijuana. He recently bragged to a Mexican newspaper that he could have anyone who tried to rob him moved to a tougher prison.
