Missing teen’s father charged with two counts of attempted murder

In the latest twist in the case of Mariam Makhniashvili, her father has been charged with trying to stab two people to death.

The Makhniashvili family has been in the media spotlight ever since 17-year-old Mariam Makhniashvili disappeared in Toronto in Sept. 2009. She has never been found. In May of this year, her father Vakhtang was charged after he allegedly stabbed one of his neighbours. Earlier this week the family was back in the news after Mariam’s brother went missing for less than a day. Yesterday Vakhtang went to the home of David and Delores Langer, the couple who posted his bail in May, and allegedly stabbed the pair in their doorway. He then drove to a police station and turned himself in. Neither of the victims have life-threatening injuries.
