iTunes Will Finally Carry the Beatles

Apple Inc. has resolved its legal battle with the band and will announce Tuesday it will offer the Fab Four as part of its catalogue.
The spat between the Beatles and Apple Inc. first began in 1978, when the band alleged that the computer company’s name infringed on the copyright of Apple Corps., the entity the Beatles formed in 1968 to handle their business interests. Since then Apple Corps. has sued Apple Inc. several times for failing to abide by agreements intended to keep the computer company out of the music business and has never allowed iTunes to carry the Beatles, who are still the third-best selling act in the U.S. That had left a gaping hole in the iTunes catalogue, but according to terms of an undisclosed deal, the online music store has been granted permission to sell the Beatles’ sweet sounds.
