Canada Funding Propaganda TV Cop Show in Afghanistan

Separ tells the story of an incorruptible Afghan National Police officer.
The Canadian government has given half a million dollars to finance the show, which is attempting to counter the rather accurate perception among Afghan civilians that their national police force is only slightly better than the warlords and criminals it’s supposed to be targeting. Separ’s main character is Lt. Humayun, a fictional beat cop in Kabul who shuts down criminal operations and settles tribal disputes. The real-life ANP has been plagued by desertion and corruption, as police officers are in such high demand that new recruits are given a gun, a uniform, and little training before being sent out into the field. Many don’t even know the laws they’re supposed to be enforcing.
