Long commutes and too many people make Torontonians the saddest people in the country.

A report for the Centre for the Study of Living Standards says that Toronto is not only the most hated city in Canada, but the most unhappy as well. The study gave Toronto a “happiness index” of 4.15 compared to the Canadian average of 4.24. With a rating of 4.36, Sherbrooke and Brantford were found to be the happiest cities in the country, which is news to anyone who has ever visited Brantford. Ontario was also found to be the unhappiest province in Canada, and PEI the most cheerful, presumably because it’s so far from Ontario. Andrew Sharpe, director of the Centre for the Study of Living Standards, said that two-hour commutes and high population density stresses Torontonians out.
