Swedish Royal Family’s Nazi Past Revealed

Queen Silvia’s father joined the Nazi party and ran an armaments factory that had been stolen from its Jewish owners.

A Swedish investigative news program called Kalla Fakta has discovered that the queen’s father Walther Sommerlath joined the Nazis a year after Hitler took control of Germany and was actively involved in producing weapons for the war effort. Sommerlath, who died in 1990, had claimed that his factory made toys trains and hairdryers. The revelations have dealt another serious blow to the reputation of the royal family, weeks after a tell-all book described reigning King Carl VVI Gustav attending wild sex parties in underground Stockholm clubs guarded by the secret police. Public support for the royals has dropped sharply since the book’s publication, down to 51 per cent from 64 per cent last year.
