Pressure Mounting for Action Against G20 Cops

TVO journalist Steve Paikin testified that he saw police commit acts of brutality, and new video evidence could force Chief Bill Blair’s hand.

It looks like journalists are stepping to the forefront of the effort to bring the police to account for questionable conduct during the G20 summit. Paikin, host of TVO's The Agenda, testified at a Commons committee Monday that during the summit in June he saw two police officers holding a journalist while a third officer punched and elbowed the man. Meanwhile, if you can stand a bit of purple prose from Rosie DiManno, you’ll learn that the Toronto Star has obtained a second videotape recording the police assault on Adam Nobody. Chief Bill Blair previously said no action could be taken against the officers because they couldn’t be identified, but this video clearly shows one officer’s face.
