Art historians are trying to decipher a series of numbers and letters hidden in Da Vinci’s famous portrait.
Could Dan Brown have been right all along? Silvano Vinceti, the president of Italy's National Committee for Cultural Heritage, says that tiny symbols have been found painted into the Mona Lisa’s eyes. He said he’s confident that at least two of the symbols are “LV,” which could denote the artist’s name. Historians were tipped off that there might be hidden symbols in the painting when another member of the Committee for Cultural Heritage came across an antique book that said Mona Lisa’s eyes were full of secrets. The committee is also seeking permission to exhume Da Vinci’s skull in order to reconstruct his face and determine if the woman in the portrait is a feminized version of the famous artist.
