Ignatieff Vows “2011 Will Belong To the Liberals”

The Liberal leader issued a war cry at the party’s Christmas soiree Wednesday night.

With rumours of a spring election in the air, Michael Ignatieff told supporters at the Liberal Christmas party last night that next year will be the Liberals’ year. “No political party in Canada worked harder in 2010,” he said, and promised to turn that work into success at the ballot box. But polls suggest neither the Liberals nor the Conservatives should be too eager for an election next spring. According to a survey released Thursday, support for both parties is deadlocked at about 30 per cent of the popular vote, and there would likely be little for either Ignatieff or Stephen Harper to gain by bringing down this session of Parliament any time soon.
