Cameras captured a violent fracas inside the legislature that left politicians with broken jaws and concussions.
Remember the Orange Revolution, that pro-democracy movement that broke out in Ukraine a few years back? Ever wonder how that’s going? The answer is not very well. Supporters of former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko launched a demonstration in parliament Thursday to protest an investigation against her by President Viktor Yanukovych, who recently beat Tymoshenko in national elections. Yanukovych’s supporters rushed the podium and the legislature erupted in violence, with parliamentarians hurling furniture and punching their opponents in the head. If the politicians captured in this video raining blows down on each other look like they know what they’re doing, it’s because they do. Scuffles frequently break out in Ukrainian parliament but they have never been this violent.
