Assange on the Defensive As Details of Rape Charges Leaked

The Guardian has taken the unusual step of publishing the contents of the Swedish police report against the Wikileaks founder as more details of his sex life emerge.
On Saturday the U.K.’s Guardian newspaper published the details of the rape charges against Julian Assange in full, a decision its editors defended because of what they called Assange’s unprecedented attempts to discredit his accusers. Meanwhile other news outlets are doing their best to dig up secrets on the secret-leaker, with the Daily Mail printing stories about a third woman he allegedly bedded in Sweden days before the alleged rapes took place, and a child he fathered with a 17-year-old girl when he was 18. Assange’s supporters claim the rape charges pending against him in Sweden are part of a U.S.-led smear campaign. Assange remains free on bail in the U.K. while he fights extradition to Sweden.
