The 41-year-old Minnesota Vikings quarterback left Monday night’s game with concussion, likely making for an ignoble end to his brilliant career.
Brett Favre’s career may have ended with a bang, then a whimper. The bang came courtesy of the Chicago Bears’ Corey Wootton, who slammed Favre’s head into the frozen turf during last night’s 40-14 win over the Vikings. At the post-game press conference an emotional Favre sniveled a bit as he tried to explain, through the haze of his concussion, what possessed him to play in a meaningless game after badly injuring himself two weeks ago. The Vikings’ season has been nothing short of disastrous. After coaxing Favre out of retirement, the Vikes had high hopes but were eliminated from the playoffs early, fired head coach Brad Childress, and had the roof of their stadium collapse last weekend.
