“Unruly” Russian Hockey Team Still in Buffalo After Being Kicked Off Flight

The junior hockey team that broke Canadians’ hearts Wednesday was booted off their flight home for being too drunk.

Shouting “Russia! Russia!” and drinking beer (Canadian beer, no less), Team Russia was seen celebrating their miraculous 5-3 victory in the gold medal game of the World Junior Hockey Championship in a Buffalo hotel bar Wednesday night. Apparently, the revelry had not quite worn off by the time they boarded a Delta Airlines flight home Thursday morning, and the crew had them ejected for being too unruly. The team, which completed the biggest comeback in tournament history with five unanswered goals in the third period of Wednesday’s game, checked into an airport hotel where they were reportedly sleeping it off before attempting another flight on Friday.
