The Liberal and NDP leaders will visit ridings strategically vital in the next election.
If Michael Ignatieff’s travel plans are any indication, he’s worried about shoring up support for the Liberal party in the Toronto area. Southern Ontario and the GTA is where Ignatieff will spend half of an 11-day national tour that begins Saturday, hoping to beat back the Tory tide after the Grits lost what some considered a bellwether by-election in Vaughan to the Conservatives last November. Jack Layton will also be traversing the country, visiting ridings he considers winnable in Atlantic Canada, Northern Ontario, and the West. When an election will come is still anyone’s guess, but Layton and Ignatieff’s campaign-style road trips are indications they aren’t content to let the grass grow under their feet while they wait.
