New Images of G20 Police Misconduct Surface

Dorian Barton’s arm was broken in an altercation with police during the Toronto summit.

The Special Investigations Unit says it may reopen its probe into police conduct at the G20 because a bystander has come forward with photographs of police taking Barton down. Barton says police broke his arm and then denied him medical attention of 6 hours after they saw him taking pictures of police with his iPhone. His case was one of six investigated by the SIU, but the unit concluded that no charges could be laid because the offending officers couldn’t be identified. The new photos show officers swarming Barton and dragging him by the arms, and one officer’s face is clearly visible. The charges against Barton were dropped and he is now suing the Toronto Police Services Board for $250,000.
