The Facebook-based movie took home the prize for best dramatic film and won three other awards.
The Oscar buzz surrounding The Social Network got louder Sunday, when the film won Golden Globes for best screenplay, original score, best director, and best dramatic film. Accepting the best picture award, producer Scott Rudin thanked Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg (who is portrayed in a less-than-flattering light in the film) for allowing the filmmakers to use his life as a metaphor “about communication and the way we relate to each other.” Colin Firth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Paul Giamatti, and Annette Bening all took home acting awards, with Giamatti winning for the Canadian-Italian co-production of the adaptation of Mordecai Richler’s Barney’s Version. In his censor-alerting acceptance speech (he was bleeped twice) Giamatti thanked “the great nation of Canada.”
