An RCMP officer was captured on video kicking a suspect in the head during a traffic stop on Jan. 7.
Youtube is becoming a key tool to fight police brutality, apparently. After a cell phone video that showed a Kelowna officer kicking a suspect in the head was posted to the video-sharing site, police have concluded an investigation into the incident by recommending charges against the Mountie. The RCMP have not officially released the name of the accused officer but reports say Const. Geoff Mantler has been suspended with pay. Police said the Youtube video was instrumental in their investigation, and Youtube videos were also used to bring charges against a Toronto police officer for his actions during the G20 summit. On Sunday about 300 people marched to the Kelowna RCMP detachment to protest against police brutality.
