Rebecca Rutland and her fiancé Richard Coleman were arrested in the resort town of Playa del Carmen on New Year’s Eve.

In what appears to be a holiday gone terribly wrong, Rutland, 41, says she and Coleman, 51, were arrested after an altercation outside a restaurant as they walked back to their hotel. Once they arrived at the police station, Rutland said police forced her to perform oral sex and then two officers took turns raping her. Coleman, who was separated from her, claims police robbed him of $700 in cash, his Blackberry, and jewelry. The Ontario couple was released the next day and has since filed complaints with Mexican authorities and the Canadian consular agency. Mexican police deny that Rutland was assaulted and claim the pair were extremely intoxicated at the time of their arrest.
