A report by Sports Illustrated says the cycling star obtained access to a banned drug in a clinical trial.
Lance Armstrong’s seven Tour de France victories are impressive, but equally so is his ability to withstand a seemingly endless slew of doping allegations. The latest come courtesy of Sports Illustrated, which will publish a report this week that contains several new accusations, including that Armstrong gained access to a blood-oxygen-boosting drug called HemAssist as part of a clinical trial, that his cycling team had a long-term relationship with controversial Italian doctor Michele Ferrari, and that he exploited the lax customs searches used to screen private charter flights to get duffle bags full of drugs across international borders. Armstrong is currently in Australia to participate in the Tour Down Under, and told reporters he has nothing to worry about.
