Election buzz hits new heights as MPs return to the Hill.
Canadian MPs head back to work Monday to begin a new session of Parliament that could see an election call before it’s over. The Conservative government is expected to table its budget in about a month, and if the opposition refuses to support it, the government will fall. Over the winter break all four major parties were maneuvering in anticipation of a spring election, with the Conservatives and Liberals releasing campaign-style attack ads, and the Bloc Québécois releasing a list of conditions that it wants incorporated into the budget. With all parties in semi-campaign mode, it could be difficult to get back to the day-to-day work of Parliament. First on the docket are two Tory justice bills.
