John Wrenshall invited men to his home in Thailand to have sex with young boys.
Wrenshall was sentenced to 25 years in jail Monday after pleading guilty in a New Jersey court to conspiracy to engage in sexual tourism, conspiracy to produce child pornography, and distribution of child pornography. The prosecution said that for eight years Wrenshall, now 64, took money from other pedophiles in exchange for allowing them to videotape themselves abusing boys at his Bangkok home. Wrenshall’s case exposes serious gaps in international efforts to fight sex tourism. He spent a year in prison for abusing eight choirboys in his hometown of Calgary, but was permitted to move to Thailand, a known haven for sex tourists. He came to the attention of U.S. authorities when photographs surfaced of New Jersey man abusing Thai boys.
