A grassroots strategic voting campaign is targeting 32 Conservative ridings believed to be vulnerable.
With most of the world trying to figure out a way to get Hosni Mubarak out of office, a nationwide campaign is hoping to topple Stephen Harper through strategic voting. Organizers of the Catch 22 campaign, named after the 22 sitting days Parliament lost when Harper prorogued the legislature in 2009, have identified 32 ridings the Conservatives won by a slim margins in the last election and is directing voters to pick the opposition candidate most capable of winning. The campaigners are banking on the assumption that many Canadians would prefer to elect the NDP, Liberals, or Green Party in their riding, but that the opposition keeps splitting the left-wing vote and handing the Conservatives minority governments.
