Jubilation on the streets of Egypt as the country’s dictator of 30 years flees Cairo.

Less than 24 hours after addressing the nation to announce he would not step down until September, Mubarak has been spirited out of his presidential palace in a military helicopter and has relinquished his grip on power. After his speech Thursday thousands of protesters marched to Mubarak's residence and demanded his resignation in greater numbers than before. In a brief televised statement Vice President Omar Suleiman announced that the president has resigned, and crowds on the streets of Egypt immediately erupted in celebration. After 18 days of mass demonstrations, anti-government protesters have their wish. It is being reported that Mubarak has fled with his family to the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh, and power has apparently been transferred to the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
