Arcade Fire Take Best Album Grammy

The Montreal indie band beats out Lady Gaga and Eminem in what’s being described as a major upset.

The Grammys’ award categories don’t make a lot of sense. What else can one conclude after the Arcade Fire’s the Suburbs was snubbed in the best alternative album category for which they had been considered a lock, and then won the best album prize, for which they were major underdogs. Other big winners at the 53rd Grammy Awards were Lady Antebellum, who took home the song and record of the year awards for Need You Now, and Lady Gaga, whose the Fame Monster nabbed the best pop vocal album. Toronto’s legendary rocker Neil Young won for best rock song, amazingly his first ever Grammy for music, while other Canadian nominees Drake and Justin Bieber were shut out.
