An unborn child has been scheduled as a witness at a hearing on a proposed abortion bill.
Good luck trying to swear it in. Faith2Action, an Ohio anti-abortion group, says a fetus will appear before the senate committee via an ultrasound taken of a pregnant woman in the room and projected on a screen. The committee is deliberating on a proposed bill that would make it illegal to perform abortions on a fetus that has exhibited a heartbeat, and the “testifying” fetus’s heart will be highlighted in colour on the ultrasound projection. Faith2Action spokesperson Janet Folger Porter said the intent is to show who is affected by abortions. Fetal heartbeats can be detected around the third week after conception.
