More Charges Coming Against the Conservatives?

Elections Canada is refusing to say whether allegations that the Tories forged invoices as part of the “in-and-out” ploy will result in charges.
When four Conservative campaign leaders were charged last month by Elections Canada with improperly exceeding spending limits in the 2006 election, forging invoices was not on the list of charges. But because forgery falls outside the jurisdiction of Elections Canada, there is speculation that the Conservatives could be hit with more charges from another agency, likely the RCMP. Senators Doug Finley and Irving Gerstein, as well as two other Conservatives, face regulatory charges of shuffling money between local campaign offices and federal coffers in order to exceed the $18.3-million spending limit by $1 million. The opposition has long alleged that the party falsified advertising invoices in the process.
