The two crew members reportedly ejected safely before the jet was forced down by technical problems.
A U.S. F-15 fighter jet crash-landed in an undisclosed part of Libya Monday night, with unconfirmed reports indicating the incident occurred somewhere near the rebel-held city of Benghazi. Both crew members are believed to be alive, with minor injuries, though only one has been recovered by U.S. forces. The other crew member was reportedly rescued by rebel fighters. The plane is the first coalition aircraft to crash since U.S.-led airstrikes against Libyan government forces began three nights ago, and while the U.S. military said it was nearing its goals of knocking out Moammar Gadhafi’s air-defence and command-and-control capabilities, with the dictator still entrenched in power it’s unclear what will happen next.
