The founders of the U.S. Tea Party movement have signed up to lobby the provincial government on energy policy.

When you’re two of the richest men in the world, why limit your influence to just one country? The Koch brothers have spent the past several years underwriting libertarian and climate-change-denying causes in the U.S., and have now begun throwing their weight around in Canada. On March 15, Koch Industries signed on to Alberta’s lobbyist registry, indicating that the company had begun lobbying activity on March 3. No end date was listed. Koch Industries subsidiary Flint Hills Resources is one of Canada’s largest crude exporters, and operates a crude oil terminal in Hardistry, 200 kilometres southeast of Edmonton. Forbes pegs Charles and David Koch as 24th on the list of the world’s richest people, with a net worth of $17.5 billion.
